To be honest, I did, too, pirate at some point.

People who seem to pirate seem to be pirating applications they don’t need. Let’s see. How about 3Ds Max? If you are in position that you have to pirate, do you really need it? If you really needed it,, wouldn’t you buy through your employer?

Also, why the hassle of digging through garbage material (some NSFW) and some that are potential to compromising your computer security in order to just obtain a 25 character sequence just to bypass paying, perhaps $30?

I used to pirate a lot. At some point, fortunately, some people who really meant a lot (like everything to me ;-)) to my life, talked me out of it. It was a very awesome and a defining moment for me.

But to be honest, I still use the same Windows XP CD throughout my house, I still use the same key throughout my house. Heck that CD isn’t even an official copy of Windows XP Pro. I have windows XP on all our computers except my mac, but to be truly honest, I really don’t feel like paying to a monopoly that creates garbage software like Internet Explorer and slowly kill my brain cells when I try to make beautiful work on websites. They have enough money already. Hey, I still paid for my copy of Leopard!

So far, since I stopped pirating, I’ve only installed and used software that I really needed for instance like TextMate and Flow (Thanks Brian!)

My view: pirating is simply just not worth it

Now that I gear myself towards mac development, I think this is an excellent discussion to be had.
