What I Do

My business card says I’m a software designer at Extendmac. But that’s sort of misleading to most people (which is why I recommend turning said-business-card over).

Design

People think it’s this veneer — that the designers are handed this box and told, ‘Make it look good!’ That’s not what we think design is. It’s not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.
— Steve Jobs

In that sense, I design how software works. That encompasses engineering the architecture, writing the code, and illustrating the interface, but more importantly, thinking about how people will use it.

About

Hi. I design and develop software for Extendmac, a small software-startup I founded a few years ago.

People say I’m obsessed with my work, and they’re right. I adore it, and think that waking up each day to make stuff I want to use myself is pretty much the coolest thing ever. I’m a perfectionist because I think life would be a waste of time otherwise.

In my scant free time, you’ll either find me ranting about how “right” Porsche has got it, or watching a movie.
